OK - that's pretty much it folks. The forum remains open all next year and so you can continue with your studies for this module over there. Hope you enjoyed learning about cryptography and that some of you will take the subject further through the optional modules.

16/12/2005

Assignments that were handed in to me on Wednesday 14th December have now been marked and are available for collection in the box outside my office. Solutions have been posted to the forum.

16/12/2005

Rob Carolina's slides will remain on the website until Tuesday 20th December, when they will be taken down. There is a comment on the extent to which this lecture is examinable on the forum.

06/12/2005

Due to the problems with Internet access to the College servers I am willing to take in late assignments. All assignments returned by:
  • Wednesday 7th December 12.00 will be marked and returned on Wednesday 14th December.
  • Wednesday 14th December 12.00 will be marked and returned in January.

30/11/2005

The second assignment sheet is due for return in the class on Wednesday 7th December - deadline 12.00. All assignments returned by this deadline will be individually marked and returned the following week.

23/11/2005

The second part-time student tutorial for this module will be held on Wednesday 7th December at 12.00 in HLT2.

22/11/2005

The week beginning 28th November is our second designated tutorial week. The topic for this tutorial will be cryptographic protocols. I would like you to take a look at the following six protocols and bring to the tutorial your views on the extent to which they provide the services that we identified the need for in the "Alice are you OK?" scenario dicussed in the lecture. There should also be time to ask general questions at this tutorial.

22/11/2005

There will be a tutorial for part-time students this week at 12.00 - same room (HLT2) and same time as the Maths classes, which should now have finished. This week it is my intention to run the tutorial as an open house - ask any questions you like. However if there are specific issues that you want to cover then let me know.

10/11/2005

Sketch solutions to the first assignment have been posted to the forum.

10/11/2005

Robert Carolina has now confirmed that in the last week (December 14th) he will return to give his "Crypto and the Law" presentation. Those of you who are attending his Tuesday morning classes should have already worked out that this will be a show not to be missed.

26/10/2005

The first assignment sheet is due for return in the class on Wednesday 2nd November - deadline 12.00. All assignments returned by this deadline will be individually marked and returned the following week. No assignments returned after the deadline will be marked, so please get them in on time.

21/10/2005

Please make sure that you have read the online Week 3 material and attempted the tasks identified on the discussion forum before you come to tutorials next week. Please also look at Exercises 6 and 7 on the Week 3 Exercise Sheet before coming to your tutorial.

11/10/2005

The Exercise Sheet for Unit 3 has now been placed on the web. Note that the exercises here are essentially the same as those that appear in the online material for Week 3. There are also several tasks posted to the forum for discussion on Unit 3. You are also welcome to open discussions up on the forum on anything else relating to this unit.

11/10/2005

A reminder that there is no lecture on Wednesday 19th October. There will however be a Maths Tutorial in HLT2 at 12.00. There will also be no office hour on Thursday 20th October.

05/10/2005

CORRECTION!!The link I gave you to the online Maths Unit is good - but this is an old version which contains a few typos that might confuse you. I have changed all the links from this page to the updated version of the Maths Unit. Access credentials are now the same as for unit 3 - in other words: username IC2unit3 and password as mentioned in class. Sorry about the confusion!

04/10/2005

To access the online material for Week 3 you need to supply the username IC2unit3 and the password (mentioned in class).

04/10/2005

Slides from the Module Introduction presentation can now be downloaded.

03/10/2005

Maths Help Tutorials will be held on Wednesdays from 12.00-13.00 in HLT2. These begin in Week 2 (first tutorial 12th October).

03/10/2005

This semester my office hours will be Thursdays from 12.00 to 13.00. Meetings outside this time can be arranged by appointment only (by email is fine).

15/09/2005

There will be no formal lecture held on Wednesday 19th October (Week 3). During this week you will be expected to undertake some reading tasks. Full details will follow.

15/09/2005

This year's lectures will be held between 09.00 and 12.00 in Main Lecure Theatre (Founders Building). The first lecture will be on Wednesday 5th October.
