The ISG Says Goodbye to Dr. Alex Dent

Dr. Alex DentAt the end of June, the ISG will be saying goodbye to Dr. Alex Dent. Alex is best know for his fast-paced lectures in Standards and Evaluation Criteria and for his highly-respected research into public-key algorithms and protocols. He leaves us for a position as a Security Engineer for Qualcomm in San Diego.

Prof. Keith Martin, Director of the ISG, said

"Alex has made substantial contributions to the ISG during his many years here. He has been very actively engaged in the cryptographic research community and has helped to fly the Royal Holloway “flag” through his research papers and books. He has also consistently been one of our most highly rated lecturer on the MSc. I am sure everyone will join me in wishing Alex well and hope that our contacts with him will remain strong."

In response, Alex said

"I don't think it's possible to overestimate the effect of my time at Royal Holloway. I came here as a young mathematician and Royal Holloway way taught me the technical skills needed to become an information security professional. I firmly believe that this is the best academic information security group in the world, both professionally and personally, and I'll miss everyone here more than I can say."
