EPSRC label the ISG "world leaders in information security"

EPSRCRecently, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), which controls a large proportion of the governmental research funding within the United Kingdom, released its review of UK research in the mathematical sciences. The fifty page document, which examines all aspects of mathematics in an international context, singles the Information Security Group out for its excellence in information security, stating that

"UK researchers remain world leaders in information security (Royal Holloway)"

Mystery Twister website challenges cryptographers

ECRYPT IIThe ISG has been involved for several years with the EU's European Network of Excellence for Cryptography (ECRYPT II) project. This is designed to connect Europe's best universities and commercial companies with research interests in cryptography by providing funds for researcher meetings, knowledge dissemination, and public outreach activities. One of these public outreach activities is the Mystery Twister Crypto Challenge Contest.

Mr. Richard McEvoy to present I-4 web-seminar

I-4Mr. Richard McEvoy will be giving a web seminar to the International Information Integrity Instutite (I-4) on Thursday the 21st of April. Mr McEvoy is the Risk Practice Manager within the Governance, Risk and Compliance division at HP Information Security and a part-time Ph.D. student in the ISG. The seminar is entitled "Dog Bites Man" - Why Attacks on SCADA Systems are Tales of the Expected!

The ISG at InfoSec Europe 2011

InfoSec Europe 2011As usual, the ISG will have a large presence at the InfoSec Europe 2011 trade conference, which takes place in London’s Earl’s Court arena on the 19th-21st of April. Prospective, current and former students are welcome to visit us at Stand H73. The stand will be manned by students and by Information Security Group faculty members. However, this will not be the ISG's only presence at the show.

First Post). The interview was part of the programme's discussion marking the day that the 2012 Olympic Tickets went on sale.
