12 & 13 September 2015
I warmly invite you to attend this year's distance learning weekend on the magnificent Royal Holloway campus. This conference is open to everyone associated with the MSc Information Security Distance Learning Programme offered at Royal Holloway – that is, all current students, the graduates of the programme and students who have registered to start in the coming academic year.
Although not formally part of the MSc, this is a great opportunity for distance learning students to meet face-to-face to compare experiences on modules, hear interesting and informative presentations by industry and academic experts, meet some of the module leaders and tutors of the programme, eat, drink, be merry as well as visit Royal Holloway and the surrounding area. It is a key opportunity to develop links with speakers and other participants that might further your career.
Friday begins with two workshops – the first is an introduction to the library and the second workshop introduces the students to the dissertation project. The workshops begin at 13.00 and 14.00 hours and are located on the Royal Holloway campus and are free to attend.
Saturday and Sunday consist of presentations on the Royal Holloway campus with a conference reception and dinner on Saturday evening in the stunning Victorian Founders' Building. Sunday closes with a workshop on doing well in your exams. You should also try and find some time to visit the famous Chapel and wander more widely around the Founder's building during the weekend.
Modern, top rated accommodation is available for Friday and Saturday nights, and is located in single en suite rooms in "The Hub" on Royal Holloway campus.
A number of previous conference presentations have been recorded and are well worth watching, follow the links to the previous years conferences. They illustrate the high quality of what you can expect.
We look forward to seeing you at the conference this year.
