Weekend Conference

6 & 7 September 2014

I warmly invite you to attend this year's distance learning weekend on the magnificent Royal Holloway campus. This conference is open to everyone associated with the MSc Information Security Distance Learning Programme offered at Royal Holloway — that is, all current students, graduates of the programme and students who have registered to start in the coming academic year.

Although not formally part of the MSc, this is a great opportunity for distance learning students to meet face-to-face to compare notes on modules, hear interesting and informative presentations by industry and academic experts, meet some of the module leaders and tutors of the programme, eat, drink, be merry as well as visit Royal Holloway and the surrounding area. It is a key opportunity to develop the links with speakers and other participants that might further your career.

Friday begins with an optional afternoon trip (details to be advised). Saturday and Sunday will consist of presentations on the Royal Holloway campus with a conference reception and dinner on the Saturday evening in the stunning victorian Founders' Building. But you should also find some time to visit the famous Chapel and wander more widely around the Founder's building during the weekend.

The modern, top rated accommodation, available for Friday and Saturday nights, is located in single en suite rooms in "The Hub" on Royal Holloway campus.

A number of presentations have been recorded in the past (see the 2011 and 2013 weekend websites), and are certainly well worth watching again. They illustrate the high quality of what you can expect. This year's programme is already promising to be just as good, and so I encourage you to come if at all possible. It will boost your motivation and get the forthcoming year off to a flying start.
