Research seminars and meetings
- ISG Research Seminars take place (almost) every Thursday at 16:00 in McCrea 229. Details of future (and past) seminars are available.
- The Pure Mathematics Seminars take place every Tuesday at 16:00 in McCrea 219, preceded by tea at 15:30 in McCrea 237. Details of future (and past) seminars are available.
- The Smart Card Centre organises a series of seminars and invited talks. Details can be found on the Events Calender of the Smart Card Centre web site.
- The Ph.D. Students Only Seminar is held every week on Thursdays at 15:00 in McCrea 229. For details of these seminars, and copies of past talks, please contact Qin Li.
- The Postcrypt cryptography reading group meets every week on Thursdays at 11:00 in McCrea 229. For details of these meetings, and to get yourself on the mailing list, please contact Maura Paterson.
- The Combinatorics Laboratory meets every couple of weeks on Thursdays at 15:00 in McCrea 229. For details of these meetings, and to get yourself on the mailing list, please contact Simon Blackburn.

- A lot of useful information is available on the ISG and Mathematics Department PhD student resource pages.
- The Guardian style book, an extremely useful guide on writing clear English, is available here. This is recommended reading for all students, along with the Oxford Guide to Plain English.
- I have put together a list of LaTeX resources, including templates for a Ph.D. thesis, which may be of use.
- Steven Galbraith has compiled an extremely useful PhD student information pack, including a number of valuable links.
- Details of the college's Research Development Programme are available online.
- The PhD regulations of the University of London are also available online.
- The Graduate School maintains a very useful directory of resources for research students.
- The Mathematics Department maintains a Technical Report series, which includes a number of recent PhD theses.
- This set of PowerPoint slides was used as the basis of a Mathematics Department training session on Plain English.
